In a workshop I participated in a couple of weeks ago, the presenter talked a lot about the elements of composition. Last night a cold front came through. I left the house early this morning and it was 38 degrees. For my Yankee friends, that's cold for here!  I drove to the Murrells Inlet marshwalk and found some pelicans trying to warm up in the sun. Attended a day-long photo workshop today. What fun! You always learn something even if you have heard it before. This workshop was very well done, led by Roger Morin who works with Bryan Peterson. Okay, so yesterday it's 36 degrees and I'm shooting roses in my backyard. Today it is 27 degrees and I'm shooting ICE only 5 feet away from yesterdays rose shot. This is not the best image, but we don't get much ice down here so I had to shoot it while we had some. Enjoy!

With all the advanced fanfare about last nights (19th) full moon, I just had to try to capture it. Some of my neighbors and I went to Huntington Beach SP and patiently awaited a 7:48 pm moonrise. The moon did it's thing ontime but there were some low clouds that made immediate shooting unproductive. Then a Park Ranger came along at 7:55 and ran us off the beach saying the park closes at 8:00.

To celebrate Thanksgiving, I traveled to ZephyrHills FL to visit a daughter and her family. While there we toured  a "garden" where I spotted some Bird of Paradise in bloom. Here is another beautiful owl we saw at the Birds of Prey exhibit. It is a Spectacled Owl, mostly found in southern Mexico, Central America, Northern two-thirds of South America. Spectacled Owls are dark brown with a whitish to yellow-ochre belly, a white patch on the front of the neck and a dark brown belt across the breast. Another non-photo related post but one that has some good info for you! PDF Creator allows you to use a "virtual printer" to "print" things to PDFs rather than actual printed documents. It is a must-have utility and I recommend that everybody use it.
